Visiting the Lake
Jul. 8th, 2006 09:50 pmShe'd gotten through half of it at least. And even though that meant there was still half more left, at least things were started. And Fred had promised herself that she would get through the rest before leaving day after tomorrow. Half the story was better than none at all. And she was here, back home. There was as much to that, as anything else.
She'd taken up in the guest room, because it was occupied by the twin bed. And she just couldn't do that to Methos, not after all the traveling and driving. So Fred had given him her room, and the full bed there. That was at least a few inches better, right?
And almost, just as good? Was how well she knew the way there. It was nearly midnight, and she knew every creak, crack, and loose floorboard on the was to her room. She could counts the steps in her sleep, and walk them with her eyes closed. You'd almost think she had a bit of expereince with this sneaking out think. Of course she was old enough that sneaking out wasn't needed, but that was just part of the fun.
Fred slipped into her old room, not quite closing the door behind her. She was pretty sure he'd already heard her coming, no matter how well she did, but she scooted up close to the edge of her bed anyway, now far from his head on the pillow.
"...hey there," she whispered into the darkness. "Ready to go?"
