Friends (TM)

Fred makes her way to the car, and using the address Cordy had texted her with, she begins combing her way through Boston once more. A small bag of clothes and toiletries sits in the passanger seat, though it really isn't much, and the tags are still on all of the clothing. She really hasn't had time to get all that much for herself. Fred considers stopping on the way, and getting something she knows Cordy would like to actually wear, but decides against it. Getting there faster seems a much better idea. Besides, she still needs some more clothes herself.

Maybe a shopping trip isn't such a bad idea?

Cordelia looks over at Fred. "I guess Fred will have to drive. I don't have my car here this time."

"Your VERY unsafe car."

Then she shares the kind of scary news -

"I'm getting a Volvo. Maybe three of them."

"It's not unsafe, Kara. No more than any other car." She pauses, then looks at her, surprised. "What are you supposed to do with three cars?"

"I dunno. I can't even drive one. I flunked drivers ed twice. I kept slamming on the brakes and stuff. Because, you know, hazards! I was perceiving HAZARDS! But I totally got 100% on the road safety theory and stuff. It's just - HAZARDS!"

Knowing Kara's history, Cordelia can't really blame her for being a nervous driver. "It'll just take time to get used to it."

"Did you know that air bags can totally break your nose?" She asks. Another HAZARD.

"Yeah, I've heard that before. But a broken nose is better than the alternative."

"You should take an advanced driving course. Maybe I'll use some of my Vegas profits to get you one!"

"I drive fine, Kara. I grew up in L.A. Well, near enough. If you can drive on their crazy freeways, you can drive anywhere. You don't have to worry about me, I promise."

"Cars are essentially licensed death machines."

She says without any levity.

"Oh! Cordy! You know what we HAVE to do?!?!?"

Kara's suddenly excited about something. Why does that frighten her?

"What?"

"We have to have you a hens night, like before you totally get divorced or whatever."

She turns to Fred -

"They have to get divorced not annulled because she totally did it with the gay guy!"

And back to Cordelia -

"I will totally fund it! With my Vegas profits!"

Cordelia just shakes her head, torn between being embarrassed and being amused. "Thanks for announcing that, Kara. Really. Though some of those profits are mine, remember."

"Blah, blah, blah. I have more than one business deal up my sleeve, Cordelia Chase-Bloom-whatever!"

Fred just shakes her head as all the words fly and bounce off the interior of the car. She is temoted to roll down the window, but decides against it. It's kinda nice, even haveing this, this close.

"I'll drive, you guys can talk." Which is silly, because of course Fred is driving. They are pulling onto the highway already.

Cordelia rolls her eyes at Kara's comment. "It's still Chase. I'm not changing it."

"How feminist of you." Kara replies. "When should we have your bachelorette party? Next weekend?"

"Hey, I'm all for a party, but I'm not sure a bachelorette one is necessary. We might not even stay married."

"Next weekend, then. I'll start organising!"

Cordelia knows better by now than to argue with Kara when she's got something in her head, so she just sighs and looks out the window. "Sure, Kara, next weekend's fine."

Almost gratefully reaching the mall, Fred pulls into the closest parking spot she can find.

"We're here!"
